Product at a Distance — це такий GPS для розподілених продуктових команд
Дейв Скотт зібрав у ній досвід трьох десятиліть роботи зі стартапами та командами Intuit, SurveyMonkey, frog design і Tonic Health
книжка має три частини: Decide, Build і Operate
написана для продакт-менеджерів, дизайнерів, UX-дослідників і лідерів, які працюють з командами в різних містах, країнах і часових поясах
інженери давно мають свої книжки про offshore development
тепер така опора з’являється і для продуктових команд

It's a treat. Extra bonus – PMs PoV for designers and design leads

Product at a Distance is a treat — smart, generous, and genuinely enjoyable to read. I especially loved the language: clear and conversational without flattening the complexity of the work.
What looks, at first, like a book about distributed product teams is really much broader. Under the cover there’s a thoughtful take on contemporary work culture, plus two decades of accumulated practice around product innovation, collaboration, decision-making, and creating the conditions in which good ideas can actually survive.
A lot of it is immediately usable. I’ve already borrowed several techniques for my day-to-day work, especially the lateral-thinking tools for moments when a team has converged too early, exhausted the obvious solution space, or simply feels stuck.
For designers and design leads, there’s another layer of value: the book helps make the product-management perspective more legible. It’s useful for understanding not only how to generate and shape ideas, but how product decisions are framed, negotiated, and carried through an organization.
So yes, it’s a practical book about working at a distance — but it’s also a compact field guide to making product work better.
A rare, human-centric guide to distributed product leadershipD. Zemanek on Amazon
As an executive coach, my work is always centered on the human being inside the system, rather than just the problem to be solved. When I picked up Product at a Distance, I expected a deeply tactical playbook for distributed teams—and it certainly delivers that. But what makes Dave’s work truly exceptional is his profound understanding that remote product development is a human challenge, not just an operational one. I deeply appreciated his candid warning against "execution without empathy" and the trap of mistaking digital communication tools for genuine collaboration. Dave brilliantly shifts the focus from managing technical components to organizing teams around real, human customer experiences. Furthermore, his approach to rituals like the Product and Design Review models exactly how to build psychological safety, ensuring that hierarchy steps back so great ideas can take the lead. This isn't just a book about building better software; it’s a masterclass in building alignment, empathy, and shared meaning across time zones. Highly recommended for any leader who wants to scale their product organization without losing their humanity.
